"John the Fisherman" is what came out of me doing Wouter Gort's course 'designing better characters' on Learnsquared.
Since I usually do environments, I wanted to learn stuff outside of my comfort zone. I really enjoyed the course. It took me forever, and I'm not even sure I like the result much, but what's more important: I now have a method of approaching character design. The course it great. Wouter is an excellent teacher, and the course is extensive. The most enjoyable part for me was getting into the character's skin, thinking about its quicks, likes and dislikes, and then making design choices based upon that. I also learned a lot about design in general.
