This was a portfolio project. Keep reading for more about the programs and specific processes I used. I wanted to concept a big piece with 2 characters that I would concept myself with 4 keychains based off my fav Bloodborne characters/(characters I thought would look good together). I took inspiration from a wide variety of fanart and various media.(see 2d art inspo image below).------------------------------------------------Story In the spirit of Bloodborne in which you get to create your own character I also wanted to create my own characters, instead of sticking with making fanart of a pre established character. They are a witch doctor of formally apart of the healing chuch, and their companion is their former lover turned beast. Instead of becoming aggressive and attacking. He remains docile and subservient to the doctor. The doctor is performing all sorts of different medical experiments on the creature in hopes to change them back but instead its teeth have begun to fall out, so to make it look agressive still the teeth are pierced into its mouth. ------------------------------------------------My Instagram https//www.instagram.com/chloeworthyart/Other Links https//linktr.ee/chloeworthyart------------------------------------------------1.) Modeling My goal was to successfully concept two characters, and four keychains. The 2D and 3D refs I pulled from are listed on this post. I pulled a lot from each. Im still working on going through crediting. So please give me a week to go through each. I am also making a long timelapse which will be released next week. ------------------------------------------------2.) EffectsThese characters required minimal effects and no real noteworthy techniques were explored.------------------------------------------------3.) Baking, Mapping,  Texturing I found this tutorial to be especially helpfulhttps//youtu.be/NVO07CZAlUIAt one point I was having problems with my Displacement maps exports from Zbrush 2022 and found I had to turn the midpoint value from .5 to 0. This link was also exceptionally helpfulhttps//www.cggallery.com/tutorials/displacement/?hc_location=ufiFollowing Maria Panfilovas tutorial, I did my Normals, Displacement, and Polypaint baking with the Multi-Map Exporter in Zbrush. I then went on to import Normals and Polypaint into Substance. This saved me time. Mapping UDIMs in Maya. Clothing, skin, and hard surfaces were textured in Substance Painter. In Substance, I just kept it simple using fill layers to maintain a stylized look.------------------------------------------------4.)Rendering I used Arnold. This was established by placing an outdoor HDRI map for a subtle light fill. Various small lights were placed around to enhance the features of my model. These lights are used to guide the viewer and help tell a story. At one point SSS was giving me a hard time. Some light editing in photoshop.------------------------------------------------6.) Final Notes I normally dont write anything here but moving forward I want to focus more on NPR rendering and mixing more and more 2D with 3D. I dearly miss 2D and want to combine my two art forms.
