I continue exploring Houdini to Substance Designer workflow, here is a demo of creating a unique-looking pattern in Houdini and turning it into a PBR material in Substance Designer. You can also see a quick flythrough video at the end of my post. In a nutshell, you create a triangulated plane in Houdini, and set a starting point as well as the end point. Then let the _finshortestpath_ node do the work by finding the shortest available path between both points. This process creates some interesting-looking patterns that can be tiled with _meshtiler_, baked as a height map, and exported to Substance where we turn it into a padded wall panel material, which can be used as a futuristic spaceship wall decor for example.
