I am very happy to show you my latest photogrammetry project ! I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and my usual focus on vegetation :p
I decided to spend a day in Paris and take as many photos as possible at the Gallery of Paleontology and Comparative Anatomy to see what I could create. I spent 8 hours in the museum photographing the different skeletons. I found the project interesting because I didn_t have complete control over the data capture. I couldn_t control the lighting, I couldn_t use my flash to eliminate shadows, and I couldn_t move freely or get very close to the skeletons. All these constraints forced me to be creative and pay a lot of attention to the cleaning phase. All the photos were processed in Lightroom and then sent to RealityCapture, where I spent a lot of time cleaning the models. Then, a pass in ZBrush to smooth and modify certain parts. Finally, the creation of a low poly and UVs to send everything to Designer and Painter to correct as many defects as possible.
I photographed about 15 skeletons, but here I am showing the ones that turned out the best and withstood the whole process.
I used a Sony A7RIII and a Sigma 35-70mm lens, F8 to F11. Each skeleton contains about 300-500 photos, each 45 MPX. Everything is rendered inside UE5 with the help of the great plugin Atlux !
I hope the result meets my expectations.
Thank you, everyone!
