I had an old Nintendo Power Poster for Dragon Warrior on the NES (DQ1) on my wall when I was a kid that I always loved the art on. I recently found the poster in an old box of stuff and decided to try recreating it in 3D. This project really was a labor of love! It certainly isn_t one for one to the original poster but is close enough for me to be happy with. All of the assets are fully optimized and game ready. I wanted to really push my presentation and provide a lot of detailed breakdowns of the props. I searched everywhere to find the original artist of the poster to give credit, but had no luck... so if anyone knows please let me know!
My take away from this project is I want to learn a better workflow for hair cards. I_ve never really worked with them and had a lot of difficulty with the ones for the helmet. All models were created in 3DS Max and ZBrush and textured in Substance Painter. The cloth was made with dynamic cloth in ZBrush. Everything was rendered in Marmoset and the poster render touched up and effects added in Photoshop.
